WHERE DO I FIND A VET WHO TREATS IGUANAS?

If you live in the Twin Cities metro area of Minnesota, I recommend these two clinics.

In Minneapolis:

VCA Cedar Animal Hospital
Phone: 612-721-7431
Fax: 612-721-0069
http://www.VCACedar.com

In Golden Valley:

VCA All About Pets Animal Hospital
Phone: 763-546-4452
Fax: 763-546-0513
http://www.VCAAllAboutPets.com

Melissa Kaplan’s site, www.anapsid.org also has a valuable resource for finding exotics/herp vets in your area.

Or you can try the yellow pages. Be sure that it says they treat exotics, and even then, don’t be afraid to interview the vet you will be working with. Ask them how many iguanas they see typically in a week, or month. Are they comfortable handling an iguana? Do they keep up to date with the latest in herp research?

Ask around. Word of mouth is a good reference. Call the local Herpetological Society. Joining your local Herpetological Society is a good idea anyway!
