Resource for Iguana Care and Adoption

EnRICHing the iguana/keeper relationship through accurate care information and compassionate re-homing.

There are a number of volunteering opportunities. We are always looking for people to help with fostering. Or just spreading the word about RICA.

If you live in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, we organize "Meet and Greets" at various pet stores and other places. These events are designed to help educate the public about the care of iguanas and promote adoption.

Click the Contact Us button and you can send an email.

All help is greatly appreciated!

Volunteer Opportunities

Treasurer. We are still in need of a Treasurer. If
you know anyone who would be interested,
please have them contact Kathy.

Membership Director. Someone who likes to talk
to people and who is familiar with a database type
program they can use to keep track of members.
Other duties would be to recruit new members.

Fundraiser. We all have great ideas for fundraising.
The person in charge of fundraising would follow
up on ideas. Such as calling around to find the best
pricing on items we are thinking of using to make
something with. Example would be the buttons we
are thinking of making. Also, this person will
network with other rescues, societies, etc., that
are having fundraising events. Other duties will be
researching companies, organizations, foundations,
etc., that are willing to give grants to non-profits.

Adoption Counselor. This person will guide the
potential adopter throughout the process. The
A.C. will make sure the adopter has all the info
on the F-E-L-T-S of iguana care. They will also
explain the adoption process and issues like
permits, necropsy, a lost ig, cage building
resources, etc. This person will be responsible
for screening any potential adopter to make
sure they are even suitable for being an adopter.

Director of Community Outreach. This is the
person who writes letters to the editor. Arranges
formal Meet and Greets. Informal petstore visits
and are up to individuals, but the Director of CO
will network with schools, vet clinics, societies,
clubs, rescues, petstores, etc. and  arrange
speaking engagements for RICA representitives.
